Junior Development Manager | Hernandez Development Services
We are hiring a Jr Development Associate in Fort Lauderdale to support Hernandez Development Services on active commercial and industrial projects.
About the Role
This is a full-time, in-person role at our Las Olas HQ. It is not an internship and not remote or hybrid. You report to our Head of Development Services and own real project work from day one, with the goal of growing into a Development Manager who can run items A to Z.
Our development lead is based in the Orlando area and carries a heavy live-project load across site coordination, utilities, consultants, entitlements, and vendor follow-up. We need a sharp junior person in the Fort Lauderdale office who can take that legwork, close loops fast, and build into the full seat.
What You Will Do
- Own day-to-day project follow-up: utilities such as FPL, consultants, fire and sprinkler coordination, CAD follow-up, vendor emails, and status tracking.
- Support site visits, issue spotting, and field-to-office communication on active jobs.
- Help with entitlements, permitting, document control, and project intake using our SOPs and templates.
- Pull and organize drawings, reports, bids, and consultant packages.
- Code invoices and keep simple project trackers and dashboards current.
- Draft first-pass updates, meeting notes, and monthly project materials so senior review is the bottleneck, not blank pages.
- Use AI tools to speed research, first drafts, data cleanup, and follow-up lists.
- Grow into full Development Manager ownership over time; this is not a permanent assistant seat.

- Someone with a development, architecture, civil, or construction management background who wants the owner/developer side.
- Someone from finance, analysis, or property management who is fast, organized, and eager to learn development.
Must-Haves
- Full-time, in-person availability in Fort Lauderdale at the Las Olas HQ.
- Speed, follow-through, and ownership: take a task to a finished first draft, not halfway.
- Clear writing and phone skills with vendors, consultants, and internal teams.
- Comfort with Excel and shared drives, plus willingness to learn our templates and SOPs.
- Real AI fluency: you already use tools to move faster.
- A coachable, low-ego, and direct working style.
Nice to Have
- AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Procore, or similar tools.
- Exposure to zoning, permitting, or land development.
- Power BI or simple dashboard work.
- South Florida project exposure.
What This Is Not
- Not a summer-only internship.
- Not a floating assistant for the whole office.
- Not a senior project manager or superintendent position.
